Room 112 Firsties can now be considered First Class Travelers! Over the last 2 weeks we have visited India, Israel, Africa and Sweden. We have been learning about many holiday traditions around the world! Here is a picture of our Firsties, at the airport, holding their passports. They would fly Patton Airlines to a country and when they landed they were greeted by customs. The customs agent welcomed the travelers to the country and handed them a stamp to be placed in their passports.
Once we landed, we found the country (or continent) on the map, read a book about the holiday, and filled out our "Holidays Around the World" booklet. We also made crafts or played games to go along with each new holiday.
Next week, we will continue to Mexico and then finally back to USA! Once our travels are complete, we will have explored Diwali (India), Hanukkah (Israel), Kwanzaa (Africa), St. Lucia's Day (Sweden), Las Posadas (Mexico), and Christmas (United States). All of these holidays have candles and family in common!
