Room 112 Firsties listened to a lot of great books on World Read Aloud Day! Thank you to all of our "Mystery Readers" as well as the author Barb Rosenstock! The first grade classes Skyped with her in the LMC. She read us her book, Benjamin Franklin's Big Splash. After, she talked to us about being an author! It was a great day filled with fun memories!

We LOVED our Valentine's Day party! A BIG thank you to Mrs. Camardella, Mrs. Klehr, Mrs. Steiner, Mrs. Gartrell, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Griffin, and Mrs. Johnson!
Take a look at how we will look 100 years from now!
We had so much fun during our 100th Day Extravaganza! Look at all of our fun pictures! Room 112 Meteorologists worked REALLY hard researching and presenting their severe weather reports! Look out Tom Skilling! The firsties learned about the difference between captions and labels this week while continuing our studies of nonfiction texts. We learned that labels are only one or two words and they point directly to an item on a photograph. Captions are sentences that tell about the photograph. We demonstrated our understanding of these concepts by creating our own captions and labels for a photograph. We then recorded our thoughts about captions and labels and loaded them onto our Seesaw pages. Check them out there!
We had a FANTASTIC time working on a STEAM activity with Mrs. Litberg's class last week! We were challenged to build a structure three feet tall with only newspaper and tape. We were very proud of how the first graders worked together to plan and build their structures. There was no giving up when ideas didn't work. They just kept working together to solve the problems that arose. We look forward to more of these activities in the future.
